I am regularly asked for recommendations for "good" information technology companies in the Sarasota County area. I get questions like:
- "Hey Van, can you recommend a good web designer?"
- "We're looking to get a new server. Who do you recommend?"
- "We're having problems with our network and need help. Who can we call?"
I get asked these questions so often, I decided to make a web page with this information to save time. In our area, we are blessed with a lot of honest and competent technology companies. I'll list the ones that I know and trust.
Just because a company isn't listed here, doesn't mean that I think poorly of the company! The chances are that I have never worked with them, so that's why they aren't here.

DISCLAIMER 2: As with investments, "past history is no guarantee of future performance". I either know or have worked with the companies that I have listed here and have had a good experience. This doesn't mean that they are infallible. It just means that you have much better odds of getting good service from these vendors than if you went to the yellow pages.
For example, companies that do good work usually get more work than they can handle, so they hire on more employees. Hiring new employees has some risk. Unfortunately, not everyone has a great work ethic or is honest. Sometimes a new employee will have some serious faults that won't initially be apparent. You might request service from one of these companies and happen to get a less-then-stellar, new employee that hasn't been weeded out yet, which will make for a bad experience. Definitely call the owner of the company and let them know if this is the case.
If you do use one for more of the companies that I have listed, please share your experience(s) with me. I want to know who's performing well or not so well. After all, if I recommend someone who is slipping in the customer service category, it will reflect poorly on me.
Also, some of the companies may actually be outside of the Sarasota area, but I listed them anyway because they still do a great job working with remotely with customers in the Sarasota area.
