Backup software is one of those corners of the application world that has continued to stay overly expensive, in my opinion. It typically costs about $500 to buy backup software for a single server. None of the big backup companies have donated to TechSoup, at least as of yet, so even nonprofit organizations have to pay through the nose. Recently there have been a couple of new comers to this arena that are getting very cost competitive. BackupAssist is one of those. You can buy backup software for a single server for about $150.
I haven't personally used this software, yet. I found out about it through an advertisement in CRN magazine. However, if you have experience with this application, please drop me a line.
