Windows 98 Virtual Machine Minimize

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County (CFSC) had a couple of old DOS-based legacy applications that they wanted to keep around for historical purposes.  One of the applications is an old Accounting/CRM application called TracStar.  The other application is WordPerfect Library, which is a database.  Yes, WordPerfect actually had a database way back when!  CFSC hasn't input new data in either of these applications for years, but they come in handy every once in a while when someone wants to look up some ancient information.

Neither of these applications function on Windows NT or higher (including 2000, XP, and 2003).  However, they do run in a Windows 9x environment.  Consequently, I setup a virtual machine with the Windows 98 operating system in a Virtual Server 2005 R2 environment.  Now TracStar and WordPerfect are still living happily in their own little world.  They have no idea that they reside in a fake computer!  It reminds me of a Star Trek episode.

Anyway, the information below contains instructions for CFSC's employees to access the Windows 98 Virtual Machine, as well as some solutions to common problems.
